Proto Hologram Global Developer Competition

Judging Criteria 

The Proto Hologram Global Developer Competition is committed to fostering groundbreaking innovations in holographic spatial computing. The following criteria are designed to ensure a fair, comprehensive, and transparent evaluation of each submission. Contestants will be scored on a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest) across these key dimensions:

 

  1. Originality and Creativity 

- Is the application concept unique, and does it provide a novel solution or perspective in the use of holographic technology?

- Assessment of the creative use of Proto’s holographic spatial computing platform to create distinctive and innovative user experiences.

 

  1. Technical Proficiency

- Evaluation of the technical implementation: How well is the application developed? Consider code quality, software architecture, and effective use of the Proto OS and hardware capabilities.

- Stability and functionality: Is the application reliable and free from bugs during operation?

 

  1. User Experience and Design 

- How intuitive, engaging, and user-friendly is the application’s interface? Consider the overall design aesthetic, user interface (UI), and user experience (UX) design.

- Effectiveness of the holographic interactions: Does the application leverage holographic capabilities to enhance user engagement and accessibility?

 

  1. Impact and Relevance 

- The potential impact of the application on its intended audience or sector (e.g., entertainment, education, healthcare). Does it address a clear need or opportunity?

- Consideration of the application’s capacity to effect meaningful change or provide significant benefits to its users.

 

  1. Scalability and Performance 

- Evaluation of the application’s performance, including its efficiency and responsiveness, especially in leveraging holographic content.

- Scalability: Is the architecture designed to handle growth in terms of users, data volume, and transactional demands effectively?

 

  1. Presentation 

- In the final stage, the clarity, persuasiveness, and overall quality of the presentation during the demonstration to the panel of judges. This includes the ability to effectively communicate the core value proposition, innovation, and utility of the application.



Winner Selection:

Winners will be determined based on the highest aggregate scores across the outlined criteria. In the case of a tie, the judging panel will deliberate, focusing on the potential impact and innovative qualities of the tied entries to decide the winner(s).

This judging framework is crafted to highlight and reward the most innovative, well-executed, and impactful holographic applications, driving forward the potential of spatial computing technology.


 

Official Contest Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

 

  1. Eligibility

This contest is open to individuals, teams, and companies ("Contestants") who seek to explore and innovate within the field of holographic and spatial computing. Contestants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or guardian. The contest is void where prohibited by law. Employees of Proto Hologram, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and suppliers (collectively the “Employees”), and immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of Employees are not eligible to participate in the contest.

 

  1. How to Enter

Entries must be submitted through the online form provided at https://protohologram.com/AppChallenge/. All contest requirements, as specified, must be fulfilled for an entry to be eligible for a prize. Incomplete entries or those not adhering to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at Proto Hologram's sole discretion.

 

  1. Prizes

The Winner(s) of the contest (the “Winner”) will receive a Proto M device within one year.  No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted except at Proto Hologram’s discretion. The prize is nontransferable. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the Winner.

 

  1. Intellectual Property Handling

All submitted applications remain the intellectual property of the developer or developing team. Proto Hologram obtains a non-exclusive right to use, display, and showcase the submitted apps for promotional and marketing purposes. This does not give Proto Hologram ownership rights over the application.  You further grant the right to use your name, logo, and a description of your use case to refer to you on our website, earnings releases and calls, or marketing or promotional materials.

 

  1. Contestant Representations, Warranties, Indemnities

Each Contestant represents and warrants that their submission is an original work of authorship and does not violate any third party’s proprietary or intellectual property rights. If the submission infringes upon the intellectual property right of another, the Contestant will be disqualified at Proto Hologram’s sole discretion. Contestants shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Proto Hologram from any suits, claims, reasonable attorneys’ fees, losses, damages, costs, and expenses, as well as our employees’ and contractors’ time and materials spent responding to any third party subpoena or other compulsory legal order or process associated with any third party claims at our then-current hourly rates arising out of such infringement or suspected infringement of any third party’s proprietary or intellectual property right.

 

  1. Not an Offer or Contract of Employment

Submission of an entry into the contest, the awarding of a prize, or anything in these Rules shall not be construed as an offer or contract of employment with Proto Hologram. Contestants acknowledge that their entry is voluntary and not in confidence or in trust. No confidential, fiduciary, agency or other relationship or implied-in-fact contract now exists between Contestants and Proto Hologram by submitting an entry under these Rules.

 

  1. Severability

If any provision of these Rules is found to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from these Rules and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

 

  1. Dispute Resolution.

In the event of a dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or in connection with this Developer Challenge Agreement or the breach, termination, enforcement, interpretation, or validity thereof (other than for disputes, claims, or controversies related to the intellectual property of a party) (collectively, “Disputes”), each party will engage in good faith negotiations with the other party to amicably resolve a Dispute.  If the parties are unable to resolve a Dispute within thirty (30) days after the first request to engage in good faith negotiations or within such other time period as the parties may agree to in writing, then either party may commence binding arbitration under JAMS’ Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures (www.jamsadr.com).  The parties will share equally the fees and expenses of the JAMS arbitrator.  The arbitration will be conducted by a sole arbitrator appointed by JAMS and will be either (1) a retired judge or (2) an attorney specifically licensed to practice law in the State of California and from the JAMS’ roster of commercial dispute arbitrators.  Judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.  The arbitrator will have the authority to grant specific performance or any other equitable or legal remedy, including provisional remedies.  Each party will be responsible for its own incurred expenses arising out of any dispute resolution procedure.  Any arbitration proceedings will take place in San Diego, California. 

 

  1. Governing Law and Venue

The contest and these Rules are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. Except as provided in Section 8 (Dispute Resolution), any suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or related to this Challenge Agreement or to the intellectual property of a party will be instituted in the applicable courts within the County of San Diego, State of California. 

By entering this contest, Contestants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of Proto Hologram and its judges, which are final and binding on all matters relating to this contest.

 

  1. Contest Period

Entries will be accepted starting on January 9th 2024 and ending February 29th 2024. All entries must be received by February 29th, 2024 11:59pm PST.
